they are because in valorant the skins are worth nothing. in cs2 you can sell any skin after buying it.
You're literally just burning your money when you buy anything from Riot. Cs2 (Steam) actually has a robust skin market where your items actually have value, and can be used as potential investments. If I buy a $30 Vandal skin that's it, it's done, it's $30 gone that I will never get back. If I buy a $30 AK skin, there's a good chance it will hold it's value and I can sell it in the future. It may even go up in value (or devalue), in the future. This knife is incredibly rare and will almost always be worth 1.5M regardless of who sells its or buys it.
